Human Capital Services completes internal organizational restructure
In August, Human Capital Services informed the K-State community of an organizational realignment that will allow for more nimble and improved responsiveness to customers.
An internal search process began in early fall and we announce the following appointments: Alma Deutsch, resource center and operations director; Roberta Maldonado-Franzen, director of talent acquisition; Amanda McDiffett, benefits director; Shanna Legleiter, director of learning and development; Gary Leitnaker, director of labor relations and special projects; and Charlotte Self, director of employee relations.
We will conduct a national search for the director of institutional equity.
Please welcome Derek Smith to K-State. Smith will contribute as the interim director for compensation and organizational effectiveness, effective Dec. 1.
He has a well-rounded background in human resources and has contributed to several organizations as a recruiter and compensation leader. He has worked for the Target Corp., the College of Southern Nevada and most recently the University of Las Vegas, where he had leadership responsibility for compensation analysis and classification.

Congratulate Jaime Parker on her promotion to compensation coordinator. Parker has contributed as an administrative officer for the Office of Institutional Equity. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration with a major in accounting at K-State.
Human Capital Services extends appreciation to the selection committee members for their hard work and dedication in helping select the leadership talent. Our leadership team is committed to the achievement of K-State 2025 and beyond.
