New features now available in KSU Advisor Center in iSIS
Submitted by Steve Dandaneau and Diana Blake
New, exciting features are now available in the KSU Advisor Center in iSIS. Designed and built specifically for K-State academic advising, the new features in the February 2015 release complement the initial features released in September 2014 to provide a comprehensive advising toolset. But we're not finished; additional features are already under development and will be delivered in future releases. See the Product Road Map for details.
The KSU Advisor Center is very intuitive and user friendly, but we encourage advisors to attend hands-on, instructor-led training to learn how to best utilize each feature in the KSU Advisor Center. Dates, times and locations are shown below. Training is free, but registration is required. Registration information is provided at the bottom of the iSIS training page.
iSIS Training:
- 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, in 009 Fairchild Hall, Manhattan.
- 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, in 009 Fairchild Hall, Manhattan.
- 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, in 009 Fairchild Hall, Manhattan.
- 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, in 009 Fairchild Hall, Manhattan.
- 7:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, in 119 Technology Center, Salina.
These new advising tools in iSIS and those which are forthcoming will help faculty and full-time advisors better manage and analyze pertinent academic information. We hope that advisors will be able to spend more time engaged in increasingly rich and productive discussions with their students.
The K-State advising community is increasingly better positioned and better supported in our collective mission to support and facilitate student learning and student success because the Project Team and iSIS Ambassadors have worked together across every unit and college, the Division of Student Life and a host of specialized student success and enrichment programs, not to mention with a large number of information technology services staff. It is a remarkable and admirable team effort, with more than 20,000 undergraduate students the ultimate beneficiaries, as it should be.
Here are a few quotes from advisors after seeing the new features:
- "Awesome!"
- "Fantastic!"
- "This will make advising much more effective. It is great to have so much data so well organized and in one place."
- "Incredibly helpful!"
- "The second release is awesome! I can't wait for the third release!"
