2015 Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences Week
Submitted by Jamilah Watkins and Megan Carroll
On behalf of the K-State Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences chapter, we invite you to participate in our observance of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences week.
We have been celebrating all week, April 20-24. As we come to the close of the week, we want to draw campus attention to two events: Our Clean up the Campus promotion, where we will be walking around campus picking up trash and recycling at 5 p.m. today in 139 Waters Hall; and our observance of the 125th anniversary of the 1890 land-grant universities.
For the latter, we ask you to join us in the wellness initiative by walking 1.890 miles during the day or specifically go exercise. Please visit the 1890 celebration website for more information. We celebrate all 1890 land-grant university graduates, especially our advisor Zelia Wiley, a Prairie View A&M University alumnus.
As we close the week, join us for Game Day with Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences from 7-9 p.m. April 24 at the recreational center.
Thanks, again for your support and allowing us to increase the awareness of preserving our earth and celebrating our 1890 land-grant institutions. Please continue to look for more diversity events as we continue to advertise. We appreciate your support. For more information about upcoming events or to collaborate with the College of Agriculture Diversity Programs Office, please call 785-532-5793 or contact Zelia Wiley, assistant dean of diversity, at zwiley@k-state.edu.
