Poxvirus, Ebola virus expert to give lecture on high consequence pathogens
Submitted by Stefan Rothenburg
Inger Damon, director of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of High-Consequence Pathogens and Pathology and the centers' Ebola Response Team incident commander, will present "Public Health Research and Response — short stories from the Division of High Consequence Pathogens and Pathology," at 4 p.m. Friday, May 8, in 120 Ackert Hall.
Abstract of her presentation:
Zoonotic diseases represent a recurring and emerging etiology of human morbidity and mortality. The division works on a diverse set of pathogens and diseases, including poxviruses, lyssaviruses, viral hemorrhagic fevers, anthrax, and more. This talk will provide an overview and some specific examples of work across the division to understand, prevent and control these disease threats — often in a "one health" context.
The lecture is a part of the Division of Biology's weekly lecture series.
