FERPA self-assessment reminder
Submitted by Office of the Registrar
Knowledge of FERPA is required for all faculty and staff accessing student data as part of their work duties. Faculty and staff who have not yet completed the FERPA, or Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, self-assessment for the 2014-2015 year should have received an email reminder on May 12 or May 13.
The cohort of staff identified for completion of the FERPA Self-Assessment includes staff with an instructor role in K-State Online/CANVAS or with a faculty/advisor/student services role in KSIS who have logged into the system within the past 12 months.
Please note:
- The survey link you receive via email is designated specifically for you. Please do not forward this email to anyone. This is how we track the completion of the survey in HRIS.
- If you share computers in your office, please restart your computer after completing the training. Some staff members are receiving an "already completed statement" when they sign in to complete the training. This is the result of failure to clear the Web browser cache or cookies.
- Please check your junk folder. The URL for the FERPA self-assessment might have inadvertently gone into your junk folder.
Questions may be directed to the Office of the Registrar at registrar@k-state.edu. To assist in appropriate routing of any questions, please include FERPA Self-Assessment in the subject line of your email.
Please visit the Registrar's Office FERPA information either before or after completing the assessment for additional information about FERPA at Kansas State University.
