Chapes receives mentoring award

Stephen Keith Chapes, professor of biology, has been awarded the Joan S. Hunt Distinguished Mentoring Award by the Kansas IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence Program.
This is the inaugural year for the award. The selection was based on the following criteria: a demonstrated commitment to fostering the intellectual, creative, scholarly and professional growth of mentees so they may be successful in their future careers; evidence of sustained commitments to professional mentoring relationships that result in career growth or personal development of mentees; demonstrated valued behavior, attitudes, and/or skills that aid the mentees in achieving competence, confidence, and professional identity.
