University Advising Committee accepting applications for professional development grants
The University Advising Committee invites applications for its fall semester professional development grant program. Up to five members of the K-State community may be awarded a $700 grant to support travel to, and participation in, scholarly or professional advising-related meetings. The committee will issue a second call for spring and summer conferences.
Last year, this program identified 10 recipients who attended, and, in some cases, presented at, a variety of national and international conferences. Given that the popular National Academic Advising Association's annual conference is Oct. 4-7, the committee proposes an especially efficient application process in order to facilitate possible participation.
In one-page, applicants should identify the meeting they plan to attend and offer a rationale for committee support. How is participation expected to aid the applicant in advising-related work? How might it contribute to improved student success? The applicant should email their statement to Steve Dandaneau, UAC co-chair, at dandaneau@k-state.edu, and copy their direct supervisor. The application deadline is Sunday, Sept. 13. A committee will review applications on Monday, Sept. 14, and strive to communicate their decisions no later than Tuesday, Sept. 15.
