Submissions welcome for Crossing Borders, undergraduate interdisciplinary journal
Are you reading some great final papers by undergraduate students?
Encourage those students to submit their work to Crossing Borders: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Undergraduate Scholarship.
Crossing Borders is seeking submissions for publication in 2016. Published by New Prairie Press, an online imprint of K-State Libraries, the journal encourages multidisciplinary research and allows students to share their work with a wider community of scholars.
The first issue of the journal, published earlier this year, has been downloaded more than 500 times by readers across the world.
The second issue, slated for publication in 2016, will introduce a new section, Book Reviews and Field Notes, that will feature short reviews of books, archives, special collections and online digital resources of interest to interdisciplinary study.
Students interested in submitting full-length scholarly essays, book reviews or field notes should visit the Author's Toolkit for submission guidelines. The editorial team hopes that faculty will construct writing assignments that undergraduates will then be able to submit for peer-reviewed publication.
Crossing Borders is a partnership between K-State Libraries, the English department, the University Honors Program and Frontier, an interdisciplinary program involving undergraduate students at K-State and a number of other universities.
The journal's editors include faculty members Jason Coleman, undergraduate and community services librarian; Karin Westman, associate professor and department head of English; David Vail, assistant professor of university archives and special collections; and Justin Kastner, interim director of the University Honors Program.
Additional editorial support is provided by Tanya Gonzalez, managing editor and associate professor of English; Ryan Otto, assistant professor of digital scholarship, K-State Libraries; and Tim Cochran, editorial assistant and assistant in the University Honors Program. The editorial team can be contacted at crossingborders@k-state.edu.
