Celebrate Sound, Don't Walk in Silence walk-a-thon Sept. 10
K-State's Speech, Language and Hearing Association, an official student organization, will host a Celebrate Sound, Don't Walk in Silence walk-a-thon at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Pottorf Hall in CiCo Park. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The event is part of a national effort to increase awareness of the need to protect the gift of hearing and raises funds for Big Lakes Developmental Center in Manhattan, the national Sertoma organization and K-State's organization.
The money raised will bring financial support and national awareness for the more than 50 million Americans who are affected by hearing loss. It also will enable Big Lakes Developmental Center to purchase materials that individuals with limited mobility can use to communicate and interact with others.
Register for the event online or contact one of the event chairs, Ellen Bodine at ellenbodine@k-state.edu or Courtney Claxton at cclaxton@k-state.edu.
