Submitted by Communications and Marketing
If you can dodge a ball, you can help dodge cancer.
The Dodge Cancer dodgeball tournament, to benefit Kansas State University's Johnson Cancer Research Center, will be at noon Saturday, April 14, at the university's Memorial Stadium. The event will include a concert by local rock band Lithus and possibly some other performers.
The K-State Cancer Fighters student organization is planning the event. The public is invited to participate. Players must be 18 years of age or older.
Teams of six should preregister using the forms on the cancer research center's website at http://cancer.k-state.edu/news-events/253. Individuals may also register and will be placed on teams.
Registrations are due by 5 p.m. Monday, April 9, at the office of student activities and services in the K-State Student Union. The entry fee is $45 per team and $8 per individual.
"We wanted to have a big event that would be unique and fun for K-State students and the Manhattan-area community," said Zach Zaborny, senior in mass communications, Overland Park, and the founding president of the K-State Cancer Fighters.
The National Amateur Dodgeball Association's rules will be used, and every team will get to play at least two games, Zaborny said.
The Johnson Cancer Research Center supports cancer research, education, and public outreach. All of its programs are made possible by private donations. More information is available at http://cancer.k-state.edu or by calling 785-532-6705.
