Weaver hired as learning assistant coordinator for K-State First
The Office of Undergraduate Studies has announced Brent Weaver as the learning assistant coordinator for K-State First.
Weaver has served as a graduate teaching assistant in the English department and an administrator in the Writing Center at Kansas State University for the past two years. He has worked closely with students as a teacher, supervisor, tutor and mentor. His primary role will be using his teaching and administrative skills to train and mentor learning assistants in the CAT Community program. Weaver also will focus on training the K-State First faculty, continuing to develop the University Experience curriculum, and serve as an advisor for Phi Eta Sigma, an honor society housed within K-State First.
Weaver earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in English from Kansas State University with a focus on writing studies. He also was the co-president for the Student Association of Graduates in English and president of the Rhetoric and Composition Society.
Weaver joins the current K-State First team, including Gregory Eiselein, director; Rebeca Paz, associate director; Mariya Vaughan, assistant coordinator; and Mandi McKinley, staff assistant.
