Opening today in McCain Auditorium: K-State Opera performs Mozart's 'The Magic Flute'
Celebrate the arrival of spring with the mythical opera "The Magic Flute" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, translated by Ruth and Thomas Martin. The opera performs for one weekend, at 7:30 p.m. March 9-11 and 2:30 p.m. March 12 in McCain Auditorium.
Mozart's last opera is set in a mythical land between the sun and the moon. In this amusing tale, the young and sensible Prince Tamino travels to the castle of the Sarastro to save Pamina. Along his magical journey he meets the comical Papageno, the three muses, the Greenbird, the spirits, and the fabled Queen of the Night. Tamino gets through one hurdle after another with the help of an enchanted flute.
Tickets are $19.50 for the general public; $17.50 for seniors, military, faculty and staff; and $14 for students and 18 and under. Tickets are available online, by phone at 785-236-8638 or one hour prior to showtime in the performance venue.
All tickets, regardless of purchase method, are free from convenience fees and sales tax is included.
