Submitted by David Wetzel

Three oral presentations were made by David Wetzel and Mark Boatwright of the grain science and industry department and biochemistry and molecular biophysics department, respectively, at the 68th annual meeting of the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy, March 5-9, in Chicago, Illinois.

Wetzel and Boatwright presented "Spectroscopic Purity Assessment of Early Stages of a Natural Product Isolation Reduces Excessive Costly Recovery Unit Processes," "Near Infrared Quantitative Chemical Imaging Reveals Purity of Flour from Laboratory Scale vs. Production Scale Wheat Milling," and "Optimization of Cumulative Industrial Individual Unit Process Efficiencies."

More than 20,000 scientists attended the international conference and instrument exposition.
