Undergraduate poster competition highlights engineering research
Seventy-four Kansas State University engineering undergraduate students from eight engineering departments participated in the 2017 Engineering Undergraduate Research Poster Competition April 27 in the Engineering Complex atrium.
The event showcased 54 poster presentations under two categories: undergraduate research posters and student design/build/team/class projects. Research topics included health, energy, infrastructure and information technology.
The event provided the students a unique opportunity to share their research activities in a professional setting in an on-campus event to fellow K-State students and faculty who stopped by to view the entries and interact with the participants. Volunteer faculty and graduate students were involved in judging the posters.
The following students were selected to receive awards:
Undergraduate research category
• Daniel Clausing, senior in electrical and computer engineering, first place, $500 award. Research advisor: Punit Prakash, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering.
• Katherine Benton, junior in architectural engineering and construction science, second place tie, $300 award. Research advisors: Julia Keen, professor, and Katie Loughmiller, assistant professor of architectural engineering and construction science.
