UFM Community Garden signups

Submitted by Linda I Teener

People of all ages and backgrounds participate in the Community Garden.

Think spring with the Manhattan Community Garden. Gardening advice, equipment — such as tillers, rakes, hand tools — water, compost and new friends are just some of the benefits of gardening with the Manhattan Community Garden.

Plots are now available at the Riley Lane and Collins Lane Gardens for the upcoming gardening year. New gardener sign- ups will start at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 24; 5:30 p.m. Feb. 15; and 9:30 a.m. March 11 in the UFM Solar Addition, 1221 Thurston St.

Yearly fees vary based on the plot size — typically $50 or less — include land, water and equipment, and there are reduced fees for low-income gardeners. Kansas State University is a UFM partner.
