Agronomy graduate students take first place honors at recent Weed Science Society meeting

Three graduate students in agronomy each received first place honors in their respective divisions for their oral presentations on their research in the graduate student contest at the recent North Central Weed Science Society annual meeting. The meeting was Dec. 4-7, 2017 in St. Louis, Missouri.

The students and the titles of the presentations:

Garrison Gundy, Halstead, master's degree student under the supervision of Anita Dille, presented "Implementation of Variable Rate Herbicide Applications Based on Soil Physical Properties."

Nate Thompson, Greeley, master's degree student under the supervision of Dallas Peterson, presented "Dicamba and 2,4-D Efficacy on Palmer Amaranth and Common Waterhemp."

Marshall Hay, Lynnville, Iowa,doctoral  student under the supervision of Dallas Peterson, presented "Paraquat Efficacy as Influenced by Spray Droplet Size for Palmer Amaranth Control."

In addition to the student awards, Anita Dille, professor of agronomy, completed her term as past president of the North Central Weed Science Society.
