K-State animal sciences and industry hosts National Academy of Sciences member
George Seidel Jr., Colorado State University university distinguished professor, will deliver the 24th Kiracofe Physiology Lecture at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in 205 Call Hall.
Elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1992, Seidel is an expert in technologies that advance animal reproduction to propagate valuable genetics. He is an internationally recognized leader in the biotechnology of preimplantation embryos from cattle and horses.
Seidel's presentation will be "Role of New Reproductive Technologies in Improving Livestock Production."
He will make two other presentations in the animal science and industry department on Wednesday, March 28: "Beef Production Without Mature Cows: The Single-Calf Heifer System" at 11:30 a.m. in 111 Weber Hall and "Maintaining Integrity of Germ line DNA over Generations: Why Don't Species Age When Composed of Individuals with Aging Germ Cells?" at 4 p.m. in 226 Call Hall.
