Lawrence Ganong to present 'Studying Stepfamilies: Beyond Cinderella' April 12

The School of Family Studies and Human Services in the College of Human Ecology invites you to a keynote lecture by Lawrence Ganong, the college's 2018 Alumni Fellow. Ganong will present "Studying Stepfamilies: Beyond Cinderella" from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in 163 Justin Hall.
Ganong is a professor and co-chair of human development and family science and professor of nursing at the University of Missouri's Sinclair School of Nursing. He has co-authored more than 280 journal articles and book chapters and 10 books, and has received 12 grants from federal institutes and private foundations. His primary research program has focused on how postdivorce family members, especially in stepfamilies, develop and maintain satisfying and effective relationships. He has spoken about stepfamilies in several counties around the world.
He is a fellow in the National Council on Family Relations and the Gerontological Society of America. He has served on the board of directors of the National Council on Family Relations, the Council on Contemporary Families and the Stepfamily Association of America.
Ganong's primary research collaborator has been his wife and best friend, Marilyn Coleman, a 1959 graduate of K-State. Ganong has two stepsons and five grandchildren. For fun, he enjoys travel, good food and wine, art and music, and sports. His community work includes being on the boards of the We Always Sing Jazz Series and the Family Impact Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Ganong earned a master's degree in family relations and human development from K-State in 1974.
