Human Capital Services offers new resources to attract talent

Submitted by Human Capital Services

Human Capital Services offers additional advertising resources to aid the university in meeting its K-State 2025 plan by enhancing services to recruit a highly qualified and high-performing workforce. We are committed to being a strategic partner focused on creating innovative solutions that support recruitment initiatives. Our goal is to assist colleges and units to develop search strategies which attract a diverse pool of highly talented candidates.

Each year, we evaluate the effectiveness of our tools and resources and will continue to advertise vacant positions on the university's careers website, Higher Ed Jobs, Indeed and social media @KStateCareers. This academic year, we are adding new resources to help search committees broaden their outreach to underrepresented groups. The new sourcing channels available in the applicant tracking system:

  • DiversityJobs.com
  • DisabilityJobs.net
  • VeteranJobs.net
  • WeHireWomen.com
  • AllLGBTJobs.com
  • KANSASWORKS

We must be innovative and creative in our approach to attract a highly talented, diverse workforce if we are to be competitive in seeking top talent. Search committees should attract a diverse applicant pool by actively outreaching to as many candidates as possible. Outreaching to passive candidates — individuals not seeking employment opportunities — is one key to broadening the applicant pool. Other strategies:

  • Ask faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows not serving on the committee to nominate applicants or share the opportunity with potential applicants in their professional network.
  • Review journal editorial boards and professional associations for potential candidates who were recognized in the field of study.
  • Connect with researchers/presenters at conferences whom you may not be familiar with their work.
  • Ensure the position announcement is reflective of an inclusive environment.

HCS continues to identify recruitment resources to aid hiring managers to attract a highly talented, diverse workforce. We also offer Interview Designer and Resources to Attract a Highly Talented, Diverse Workforce training.

Contact your talent acquisition strategic partner to discuss which recruitment efforts and services work best to broaden your applicant pool.
