Raising awareness about depression
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, approximately 43.8 million adults in the U.S. experience some sort of mental illness in any given year. Seventy-five percent of all chronic mental illness begins by the age of 24, which means that college students are especially vulnerable.
At the Peer Advocates for Mental Wellness and Success' second event of Mental Wellness Week, we want to introduce you to statistics surrounding depression, as well as a few coping mechanisms. This event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 9 on the K-State Student Union Terrace. In case of rain, the event will be in the Union courtyard.
