Sara Heiman joins Center for Student Involvement

Sara Heiman has joined the Center for Student Involvement staff this semester as assistant director for leadership.
In this new role, Heiman will provide leadership in the development, coordination, and execution of programs and services provided to the student organization community including, but not limited to, officer and advisor trainings, involvement programming, and community development.
Heiman formerly worked with the K-State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering, working with middle and high school, undergraduate and graduate students through universitywide outreach and support initiatives. Before coming to K-State, she served as a housing coordinator at Oklahoma State University where she also facilitated professional development and trainings for students and graduate and professional staff on topics including effective programming, community building, crisis response, conflict mediation and leadership.
She earned her bachelor's degree in secondary education from Kansas State University and her master's degree in student affairs in higher education from Mississippi State University.
The Center for Student Involvement advocates for personal and professional growth through student involvement by providing opportunities, resources and support for student organizations as a partner within the greater campus community. With more than 500 registered student organizations, the need for organization leadership development and support is emerging as a growing need within the community.
The Center for Student Involvement welcomes Heiman to its team as she will bring a new perspective to organizational leadership and support initiatives as the center continues to find the best means possible to provide service to all student organizations.
