Dan Andresen participates in workshop for emerging national cyberinfrastructure leaders
Daniel Andresen, professor of computer science and K-State director for research computing, was one of 24 invited participants in the Cyberinfrastructure Leadership Academy in Norman, Oklahoma, Feb. 26-27.
Andresen presented his vision for the national cyberinfrastructure. The workshop's overall objective was to prepare a new generation of national leaders who will shape the national cyberinfrastructure agenda to promote the progress of science, which depend heavily and increasingly on the advanced digital capabilities that cyberinfrastructure provides.
The mechanism for accomplishing this goal was to establish mentoring relationships between senior cyberinfrastructure leaders who are nearing retirement or recently retired, and emerging midcareer leaders.
Andresen will work with Dan Stanzione, director of the Texas Advanced Computing Center, for the next year to develop his role in national leadership.
