Indian slide guitar performance 'Madeira' at Alumni Center
Madeira is a musical event performed by Debashish Bhattacharya, Subashish Bhattacharya and Sukanya Bhattacharya depicting the Indian slide guitar. The event will be 7-9 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Alumni Center. It is free and open to the public.
Debashish's music has great musical range, physical dexterity and emotional depth. By modifying and adding strings to the western guitar, Debashish has been able to create unique sounds and techniques. These astonishing techniques are innovative both in Indian classical music, and among guitarists of every genre worldwide.
Debashish developed his innovative 24-string Hindustani slide guitar after years of research and experience. These technical innovations render Debashish as one of the greatest slide guitarists who has ever lived, elevating the Hindustani slide guitar to be the highest evolution of slide guitar anywhere.
