History professor gives presentation about his new Chisholm Trail book
James Sherow, university distinguished professor of history, gave a presentation about his book, "The Chisholm Trail: Joseph McCoy's Great Gamble" at the Watkins Museum of History that aired April 7 on C-SPAN.
The Chisholm Trail was a route used after the Civil War to herd Texas Cattle to the north. It stretched from southern Texas to the city of Abilene. In the video, Sherow talks about his book and chronicles entrepreneur Joseph McCoy's success in national and international cattle trading that sparked the growth of the U.S. beef industry.
