Participants needed for consumer behavior study

Submitted by Md Mayedul Islam

Researchers in the apparel, textiles, and interior design department need participants for a consumer behavior study.

The proposed study intends to investigate consumer behavior toward fashion apparel, which will help to improve current apparel marketing strategies. The study consists of two phases in which the first phase is a survey and the second phase is an eye-tracking study. The researchers are inviting participants to participate in this proposed research study in which the participant will have a chance to receive up to $70 in gift cards as a thank-you gift for their time. Participants must be 18-65 years old.

An online Qualtrics survey of phase I is designed to collect information including demographics and purchasing behavior. If participants choose to participate in this survey, they are requested to answer all questions as honestly as possible. Two participants will be randomly selected to receive an Amazon gift card of $50. Participants are requested to take the phase I survey, which requires approximately 20 minutes to fill out. If participants do not need to wear glasses or contact lenses during online browsing and are interested in participating in the eye-tracking study, they are requested to leave their email address or phone number at the end of the survey. The researchers will contact them to schedule a time to participate.

For participating in the eye-tracking study of phase II, participants will be requested to visit Justin Hall at Kansas State University campus. Participants will be provided screenshots of clothing from selected companies websites. The participants will be instructed to wear eye-tracking glasses and to evaluate and select the clothing they will be most likely to purchase. The entire process will take approximately 45 to 60 minutes for an individual participant. Upon completion of the eye-tracking study, each participant will receive a $20 Amazon gift card. The researchers do not anticipate any risks associated with this study, and no data collected will be identifiable with any individual. The researcher does not want to inconvenience the participant in any way; therefore the researcher's schedule can be extremely flexible.

All information collected is confidential, and the participation is completely voluntary. Participants could quit at any time without any penalty.

At the end of the project, the researchers will contact the participant with this project's findings. For additional information or questions, please contact Md Mayedul Islam, master's student in apparel and textiles, at mdmayedi@k-state.edu.

This research has been approved by the Kansas State University Institutional Review Board, IRB No. 9717.
