Hissong named College of Agriculture Student of the Year
Claudia Hissong, senior in agricultural economics, Greencastle, Pennsylvania, has been named the 2018-2019 College of Agriculture Student of the Year.
Hissong was nominated for this award by the College of Agriculture Ambassadors. This award is sponsored by the Kansas Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture.
The College of Agriculture accepts nominations from student groups each month for the Student of the Month award. After a rigorous application and voting process, eight students are selected by the College of Agriculture Student Council members. The Student of the Year is selected from the Student of the Month award winners. Hissong was recognized for her accomplishment at the Ag Student Awards Banquet.
While attending K-State, Hissong has been involved with a variety of activities, including the College of Agriculture Ambassadors, Block and Bridle, undergraduate research, the Center for Risk Management Education and Research as a fellow, Silver Key Sophomore Honorary and as a learning assistant for the Leadership in Agricultural Advocacy course.
Other winners of the Student of the Month award were: Amy Collins, senior in animal sciences and industry, Burlington; Jenna Chance, senior in animal sciences and industry, Lebanon, Indiana; Taylor Matheny, senior in agricultural communications and journalism and animal sciences and industry, May’s Lick, Kentucky; Emily Meinhardt, junior in agricultural communications and journalism and Grace Luebcke, junior in animal sciences and industry, both from Marysville; and Karl Wilhelm, senior in agricultural economics, Holton. Each student award winner received a $200 scholarship from the Kansas Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture.

- Cassandra Jones, professor in animal sciences and industry.
The Student of the Year and Faculty of the Semester programs are coordinated by the College of Agriculture Student Council.
