Encourage your undergrad researcher to apply for the Goldwater Scholarship
Do you know a sophomore or junior in engineering, mathematics, or the natural sciences? Are they participating in undergraduate research? If so, they may be an excellent candidate for the Goldwater Scholarship, which awards up to $7,500 per year toward college expenses.
Ideal Goldwater nominees plan to earn a doctorate and seek a career in engineering, mathematics, or the natural sciences; have maintained a 3.8 or higher GPA; and have undergraduate research experience.
Universities can nominate up to four students to compete nationally for the Goldwater Scholarship. Students nominated to represent K-State in the national competition will also receive a $1,000 scholarship from the university for spring 2020.
Campus applications are due on Oct. 21. To obtain a copy of the application, contact Jim Hohenbary, Goldwater faculty representative, at jimlth@k-state.edu.
For students wishing to learn more, several Goldwater information sessions will be offered in 215 Fairchild Hall:
- 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23.
- 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24.
- 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25.
If you have questions or would like to discuss other scholarship options, you can also contact Jim Hohenbary at 785-532-3422 or jimlth@k-state.edu.
