Legal Speaker Series: Rural legal practice and Washburn externships
Submitted by Cadence Ciesielski
Hosted by the pre-law advising office, Washburn Law students will discuss their externship opportunities through the Hansen Foundation at Washburn Law School at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, in the Big 12 Room.
The Hansen Foundation works with Washburn to place law students in rural communities. The students work with a local attorney who conducts a private law practice, works for government or a nonprofit organization, serves as a judge, or is engaged in a legal career. Students receive a stipend of $5,000 for expenses during the externship and a tuition scholarship of $4,320 for six credit hours for a concurrent course, "Rural Practice Externship."
This is a great opportunity to hear directly from law students and a professor about opportunities available. Students are welcome to join and ask questions about law school in general or Washburn in particular.
We are also serving pizza, so please RSVP to pre-law@k-state.edu.
