Two graduate research assistants to present Anatomy and Physiology Seminar
Deepa Upreti and Miriam Martin, both doctoral graduate research assistants in the anatomy and physiology department, will provide separate presentations for the Dec. 3 Anatomy and Physiology Seminar beginning at 4 p.m. in the Mara Conference Center, 407 Trotter Hall.
Upreti is working in the laboratory of Masaaki Tamura. She will present "Water extract from cell wall membrane fraction of Chlorella sorokiniana enhances host anti-tumor immunity and inhibits colon carcinoma growth in mice." Upreti's research includes alternative medicine for cancer prevention and therapy.
Martin is working in the laboratory of Hans Coetzee. Her presentation, "Survey of veterinary student attitudes toward animal welfare and pain," is part of her research exploring ways to help veterinary students be prepared to advocate for animal welfare. The goal of her research is to help veterinarians and producers better manage pain and improve animal well-being. Her research also includes non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID, use in livestock during elective procedures.
