Retirement reception honoring Gary Leitnaker
Human Capital Services will host a retirement reception honoring Gary Leitnaker, director of labor relations and special projects, from 3-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in the Tadtman Boardroom of the K-State Alumni Association. Formal remarks will be at 4 p.m.
Leitnaker has more than 25 years of service to Kansas State University as the associate vice president of human resources and more recently, the director of labor relations and special projects and has been dedicated to the service and support of students, staff and faculty in higher education. He also served as the chair of the university threat management team where his calming presence was a great asset. His wise, thoughtful leadership will be greatly missed.
His many accomplishments at K-State include the implementation of the Family Medical Leave Act, or FMLA, and policy development, shared leave processes, employee and dependent tuition assistance and the transition from an in-house payroll and employee data system to PeopleSoft. Leitnaker also was a member of the Kansas Board of Regents Retirement Plan Committee.
Cards and letters of congratulations may be brought to the reception or sent to Diana McElwain, executive assistant, at dedmonds@k-state.edu or 103 Edwards Hall, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506.
