Guest baritone to provide Walt Whitman tribute recital, 3 p.m. Jan. 26 at All Faiths Chapel
The K-State Music Program will host baritone Andrew White, and Nathan Buckner, pianist, for a special recital, titled "A Recital of New Art Song Settings of Poetry of Walt Whitman (1819-1892); In Honor of the Bicentennial of His Birth." The performance is at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at All Faiths Chapel.
White teaches private voice, as well as classes in diction and vocal literature at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. An advocate of contemporary music, he has performed new works in Boston, Cleveland, New York, San Francisco, San Antonio and Vancouver. He has given presentations at national conferences of the College Music Society, the National Opera Association, and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
