CARE welcomes new intake specialist
Lori Cruz has joined the Center for Advocacy, Response and Education team as intake specialist. Cruz officially started her new job on March 9.
A K-State alumna, Cruz earned her Bachelor of Science in psychology with a focus on trauma in 2018. She is currently working toward a Master of Science in adult learning and leadership, and a social justice education graduate certificate from K-State. She is involved with the community. She works with veterans, military and their families through the "Earl Project." She also works with adults with disabilities through the K-State’s drama therapy program, Barrier-Free Theater.
Cruz believes that education is a primary means of dismantling inequitable systems that perpetuate power-based violence. She is passionate about building safe communities where survivors of violence receive trauma-informed support.
CARE provides advocacy and response services to K-State students, staff and faculty who experience(d) dating or sexual violence, stalking, or sexual harassment. This also includes survivors who experience childhood abuse or vicarious trauma. Additionally, CARE provides outreach and education to the broader K-State community.
