New Title lX regulations released by Office for Civil Rights
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
Kansas State University endeavors to maintain academic, housing and work environments that are free of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, domestic and dating violence and stalking. The university strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment in order to further its land-grant mission of service and education.
On May 6, the Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights released new regulations under Title lX, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity, including K-State. The new regulations mandate how universities must investigate and adjudicate sexual harassment cases under Title IX.
K-State's existing policy (PPM 3010) is currently in compliance with Title IX, but will require revision to align with the new regulatory requirements. The new regulations will take effect on Aug. 14. As in the past, the university will comply with federal law and develop policies that support our students, faculty and staff.
