Geology professor leads session, presents papers at prestigious conference
Saugata Datta, assistant professor of geology, convened a session and presented two papers with his students at the recent Goldschmidt 2011 Conference in the Czech Republic.
The conference, Aug. 14-19, was in Prague and was organized by the Geochemical Society and the European Association of Geochemistry. It is one of the eminent conferences on geochemistry.
Datta convened the session "Biogeochemistry of Arsenic and Antimony," which was under the the theme of hydrogeochemistry and global water sustainability.
He and his students also presented the papers "Arsenic and Tungsten in Groundwaters of West Bengal, India" and "Contrasting Sediment and Water Geochemistry between Low and Very High Arsenic Affected Areas in Murshidabad, West Bengal, India."
