Susan Paskewitz to present Entomology Seminar April 6

Susan Paskewitz, professor of entomology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and director of the Upper Midwestern Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Disease, will present the next Entomology Seminar at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, via Zoom. Paskewitz has been selected by the graduate students in the Popenoe Entomology Club as their annual invited speaker. The title of her talk is "Ecology and management of vector-borne disease in the Upper Midwest."

Paskewitz's research centers on management of arthropods involved in disease transmission, with a focus on mosquitoes and ticks.

Seminar abstract: This seminar will provide an overview of research projects of the Midwest Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Disease that examine the evidence supporting common vector management strategies for West Nile virus and Lyme disease vectors. Paskewitz will also discuss some of the new tools and methods for reducing disease risks that are under development as well as some of the barriers to successful implementation.
