Craig B. Parker lectures for College Music Society
Craig B. Parker, associate professor in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, presented his paper, "Indian Elements in the Compositions of Alan Hovhaness," for the annual College Music Society Central Regional Conference, hosted virtually on March 26.
Parker's lecture detailed the influence of the musical idioms of the Indian subcontinent upon the creations of Alan Hovhaness, 1911-2000, one of America's most prolific composers.
Parker also served as an adjudicator for the Paul Revitt Award, given for the most outstanding student paper presented at the chapter's annual meeting.
