Two Kansas State University graduate programs are being recognized as the best in the nation.
U.S. News & World Report's 2014 Best Graduate School ranking lists the university's College of Education and College of Engineering as two of the best graduate programs in the country.
"It is no surprise that Kansas State University has two graduate programs listed in U.S. News & World Report's Best Graduate School rankings," said Kirk Schulz, university president. "Attracting highly talented and diverse graduate students, the College of Education and College of Engineering have graduate programs that advance a culture of excellence at Kansas State University and prepare graduates to be acknowledged as outstanding in their respective fields after graduation. Rankings such as these are to our advantage as we move forward on our goal of becoming a Top 50 public research university by 2025."
The rankings are calculated through national surveys, student selectivity, faculty resources and the institutions' research activity.
"It is exciting to see Kansas State University engineering ranked once again," said John English, dean of the College of Engineering. "Our faculty, staff and students are to be complimented for their talent and diligence that have made us the top graduate engineering program in Kansas to be ranked."
"Of the thousands of educator training programs in the county, being ranked among the very best universities is a testament to the talent and dedication of an outstanding group of faculty and students," said Debbie Mercer, dean of the College of Education. "The quality graduate programming -- predicated on our award-winning professional development school undergraduate programs -- and being named the exemplary program for 2011 by the National Professional Development School Association is a powerful combination. These recognitions demonstrate the overall quality education provided at Kansas State University. This quality is going to work each and every day in classrooms in Kansas and around the world."
