Records and Information Management Month Training April 19

Submitted by Human

Have you ever cleaned off your desk or weeded your inbox and wondered if you're handling university information correctly? Would you like to avoid second-guessing yourself next time you shred, recycle, file or delete work-related records?

Join Ryan Leimkuehler, university records manager, for RIM Month Records Management 101, ARM101, for in-person, or ARM103 for Zoom, training. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, in 118 Hale Library, Leimkuehler will cover the basic information needed for university records creators and designees and provide best practices for records management when working from home.  Additionally, the training will also focus on data storage guidance for the university as well as the Use of University Mobile Devices, Personal Devices, and Accounts Policy.

His course will walk attendees through why records management is important, how to follow the university retention schedule, and what the legal requirements are when managing both paper and electronic records. It concludes with an in-depth discussion on how to identify records and the process of updating the university retention schedule.

To register for this session, either sign up through HRIS self-service or send an email to Megan Eakin at learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, employee ID, the course title, and whether you would like to attend in-person or Zoom. Attendees will receive credit in HRIS.

If you have questions about the course content, contact Leimkuehler at rleimkue@k-state.edu.
