Brunk to present Teaching and Learning Center Professional Development Series event today
Submitted by Teaching and Learning Center
As part of the Teaching and Learning Center's Professional development series, Angela Brunk, assistant professor with K-State Libraries, will present "Active Learning for All" from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, via Zoom.
Active learning techniques such as gamification and the flipped classroom have great potential to increase student engagement and retention of information. Unfortunately, active learning techniques also have the potential to add significant barriers to students with disabilities. In this lively discussion of the potential and pitfalls of active learning, participants will learn to use the basics of task analysis to create active learning exercises that are compatible with the needs of students with disabilities.
Brunk, who was born with a visual impairment, is an experienced librarian and instructor. She recently completed a Master of Applied Science in human factors specializing in accessible and inclusive design.
The events in the Professional Development Series are free and no registration is required.
