Mechanical engineer publishes in ACS journal, research highlighted in National Institute of Standards and Technology Technical Beat
Submitted by Communications and Marketing
Gurpreet Singh, assistant professor of mechanical and nuclear engineering, in collaboration with researchers from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, has demonstrated synthesis of an advanced hybrid coating material consisting of carbon nanotube and polymer-derived ceramic in a core/shell configuration. The coating material has unprecedented ability to resist damage while absorbing laser light.
The work has appeared in the current issue of the journal ACS-Applied Materials and Interfaces. Singh is the corresponding author and his recent doctoral graduate, Romil Bhandavat, is the lead author in this article. The National Institute of Standards and Technology's recently published a press release about the research.
Information also is available on the department of mechanical and nuclear engineering's website.
