Pussycat Press printmaking fundraiser Tuesday evening at Beach Museum
The Pussycat Press will be holding their annual printmaking event and fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art.
The event will feature prints by Kansas State University printmaking students, faculty, alumni and visiting artists from across the country. It will also feature a student demonstration of woodblock printmaking and the chance to make your own print. The event is free and open to the public. Come enjoy appetizers, great prints and support the Kansas State University Printmaking Society, The Pussycat Press.
For each $10 donation, patrons will receive a small print handmade by a Pussycat Press Printmaking member. Along with your print, you will also have one ticket per $10 donation entered into a raffle for a chance to win limited edition prints by Kansas State University art department faculty, alumni, graduate students, printmaking majors and visiting artists.
This year's visiting artists prints include nationally recognized printmakers Daniel Dallmann and Madison "Ke" Francis. Donations for tickets can be purchased in advance from Pussycat Press members or at the event with cash or check.
About the Pussycat Press:
The Pussycat Press is a fine arts printmaking press founded in 2008 by printmaking professor Jason Scuilla and the Kansas State University Printmaking Society in Manhattan. The press is currently located at 320 Willard Hall in the Kansas State University art department. Our goal is to promote fine art printmaking and educate the general public on the rich history and rewarding experience of making hand-pulled traditional artist prints.
We believe the art of printmaking is a valuable tool for visual expression and wish to share our knowledge of this medium with all creative people, regardless of artistic background. The Pussycat Press invites visiting artists and printmakers from throughout the country to Kansas State University for artist lectures, demonstrations, workshops and edition printing.
During these events graduate and undergraduate student members work directly with artists to produce hand pulled fine art prints. The Kansas State University Printmaking Society and the Pussycat Press participate in a variety of fundraising and community engagement activities including printmaking exchanges, exhibitions, raffles and workshops. All funds raised through the club are used to support printmaking student travel to fine art printmaking conferences, educational workshops and museum exhibitions.
