Salina campus hosts American Society for Engineering Education Conference, call for papers, posters
Kansas State University Salina will host the American Society for Engineering Education Midwest Section 2013 annual conference Sept. 18-20. The society's Midwest Section consists of educators and business leaders from Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.
The conference is issuing a call for papers and posters. The 2013 Theme is: "Opportunities and challenges in STEM education and research."
Papers:
The conference solicits papers from faculty, industry and students in a wide scope of topics related to engineering education. Some of the topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Promoting STEM education, projects and enrollment
- Novel classroom practices
- Innovative curricula
- E-learning/blended course approaches
- Leadership and project management
- Minority and gender issues in engineering
- Continuing professional development, lifelong learning, library practices
- Industry relations
- Nanotechnology, biomedical, and other emerging engineering education programs
- Educational aspects of energy issues, economics and environmental sustainability
- Global engineering
- Student recruitment and retention
- K-12 outreach programs
- Communication and ethics in engineering education
- Integrating diversity into projects and classrooms
- Papers in other categories will be considered
Posters:
Engineering students — undergraduate or graduate — in the American Society for Engineering Education Midwest Section and other society sections are encouraged to prepare a poster for this regional conference. The student posters are divided into undergraduate and graduate divisions providing a venue to showcase student work at both levels. Some of the topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Student senior and capstone design projects
- Student design competition projects such as steel bridge, mini-baja, formula SAE, solar car and robotics.
- Student outreach projects, such as Engineers Without Boarders
- Student research projects
- Integration of diversity in projects and classrooms
- Posters in other categories will be considered
The deadline for full draft submission is July 10.
