'2 Americas' mural: A presentation, tour with the photographers today
The College of Architecture, Planning & Design and K-State Libraries invite you to a special celebration of the new "2 Americas" mural installed on the ceiling of the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies in Hale Library this spring.
The mural is a modern-day response to the "We Are the Dream" mural, painted in 1980 by various multicultural student groups in the Dow's original location on the fourth floor.
At 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, join artists Doug Barrett and Luke Townsend in Regnier Forum at Regnier Hall for a presentation on their photographic work and the creation of "2 Americas." The presentation will be followed by a tour of the mural with the artists in Hale Library.
Attendees may also be interested in attending a subsequent collaborative dialogue about their personal response to "2 Americas" the following week. Nate McClendon, a museum specialist at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art, will facilitate a discussion of the mural from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Dow Center.
