O'Banion receives national and international honors
A faculty member in the College of Education's John E. Rouche Center for Community College Leadership — the premier doctoral program for community college administrators and executives — has been bestowed with three professional honors.
Terry O'Banion, senior professor of practice, was notified that the League for Innovation in the Community College had established the Terry O'Banion Legacy Award. Additionally, O'Banion was selected for the Council for the Study of Community Colleges' Senior Scholar Award, and Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for community college students, granted him honorary membership.
O'Banion has devoted six decades to improving community and technical colleges. A self-described education provocateur, he has authored approximately 300 publications and 18 books.
"It is difficult to put into words the extraordinary impact Terry has made in terms of scholarship and leadership development," said Debbie Mercer, dean of the College of Education. "Because of his life's work, two-year institutions are stronger and nimbler than ever before, and we are elated he is on faculty at K-State."
