K-State team creates extra-long corn puff for Open House
The Department of Grain Science and Industry Extrusion Team, led by professor Sajid Alavi and laboratory administrator Eric Maichel, succeeded in their attempt to create the longest extruded corn puff during K-State's All-University Open House on Saturday, April 1.
Although this attempt was unofficial, the team easily surpassed the current record. Their efforts resulted in an extruded puff that stretched more than 150 feet from the extrusion lab through the hallways of the building.
Visitors also learned about the extrusion process and enjoyed seasoning their own bag of puffs. Special thanks to LifeLine Foods, LLC, for the corn donation.
