Celebrate Greg Eiselein's years of K-State First leadership
Join the K-State First team and celebrate more than a decade of leadership with Director Greg Eiselein. A come-and-go celebration will take place from 3:30-5 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Union Station by JP's. Remarks will begin at 4 p.m. Appetizers will be provided.
Eiselein will step away from the role after 13 years to return to full-time faculty status. All campus and community collaborators from throughout the years are invited to help celebrate Eiselein and all he has done to support K-State First and first-year students.
In 2008-2009, Eiselein used his tenure as Coffman Chair for University Distinguished Teaching Scholars to develop the pilot effort that became the K-State First program, beginning with First-Year Seminars and eventually expanding into CAT Communities, Residential CAT Communities, the K-State First Book Program and more. Through these efforts, the first- to second-year retention rate of participants broke the 90% mark. The program raised more than $120,000 for scholarships and has fostered the successful transition and sense of belonging for thousands of students in courses, mentorship programs and the common book program. Eiselein has also helped to create a community of faculty, staff and student professionals who are as enthusiastic and passionate about the learning and success of K-State's newest students as he is.
