Following a national search, Lisa Johnson has been selected as the assistant vice president of planning, design and construction in the Division of Facilities, effective Tuesday, Sept. 5.
"There is an incredible energy and sense of passion and purpose at K-State," Johnson said. "With the Next-Gen K-State strategic plan about to launch, it is a time of incredible transformation and forward momentum for the university. I am honored to join the talented team within the Division of Facilities in leading planning, design, and construction in service to the university's mission, vision, and next-generation land-grant initiative. I cannot wait to begin!"
In her role, Johnson will serve as university architect and oversee the campus planning, design and construction department, architectural and engineering review, project management and construction administration on the Manhattan, Salina, and Olathe campuses and K-State Research and Extension offices across the state. She will also use her strategic planning skills to lead conversations with key university stakeholders to incorporate feedback and perspectives into workable action plans that align with the overarching university strategic plans and master planning efforts.
"Having a dynamic leader in this role to help strategically guide and lead planning decisions for the direction of the university is critical," said Casey Lauer, associate vice president for facilities. "Lisa is an exceptional service-focused collaborator and solutions-minded leader who has a passion for public education. I'm truly excited to welcome Lisa and her family to the collective Manhattan/K-State community."
