K-State employees can support children's literacy through United Way campaign
Submitted by K-State United Way campaign committee
Employees are invited to donate to the K-State United Way campaign through Employee Self Service/HRIS to support children's literacy.
One of the initiatives of the United Way is education. In fall 2021, Konza United Way launched a local partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Local enrollments depend on local donations.
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library fosters a love of reading and learning in preschool children by mailing them a free, age-appropriate book each month until they turn five years old, regardless of the family's income. Children who are enrolled at birth will amass their own personal library of 60 books.
Inspired by her father's inability to read and write, Dolly Parton started her Imagination Library in 1995 for the children in her home county. Today, her program spans four countries and mails more than one million free books each month to children around the world.
