Submitted by Mary k Pyle

Wendy Matthews has been appointed special programs and sponsored students program senior coordinator in the office of international programs. The position will report to Kristine Young, assistant provost for international programs.

Matthews will be responsible for initiating, developing and supporting special programs with international students and other professionals. She will negotiate and implement program requirements and budgets with external organizations, international universities, governments, public and private corporations to provide special programs to professionals and students. She will also collaborate with K-State units such as the registrar’s office, cashiers office, housing and dining, deans' offices, international recruiting and graduate admissions, and the English language program to facilitate those students under prestigious scholarships at the university.

"I am delighted to have Wendy on board to provide support for sponsored international students to assist them in navigating their program requirements which often are varied and complex," Young said. "Wendy will be working closely with the sponsoring organizations to develop the relationships essential to increasing the number and quality of sponsored students enrolling in our university."

Matthews currently works in the Graduate School as a graduate admissions specialist, providing logistical support and facilitating special projects requests. She has lived abroad in Germany and has served in other roles at the university and in education. She will begin her assignment in office of international programs on Aug. 19.
