Join the KSU-NSTA and Project SOA student chapter for the solar eclipse
Join future science teachers in the College of Education for a viewing of the solar eclipse gathering at 1:40 p.m. Monday, April 8, on the lawn across from Anderson Hall. The actual eclipse is expected to take place at 1:51 p.m. Solar glasses are required.
The event is hosted by the K-State chapter of the National Science Teaching Association and Project SOA, or STEMM Opportunity Alliance. Protective eyewear — glasses certified by the International Organization for Standardization — are available on campus. Pick up a pair in the main lobby of Bluemont Hall from TJ Dahl, secondary physics education major, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4.
According to NASA, it is anticipated that Manhattan will experience a maximum percent coverage of 85.1% at 1:51 p.m. Please join us, as the next opportunity for a solar eclipse in the U.S. is predicted for 2044.
In addition to hosting this scientific celestial event, the College of Education has assisted many K-12 schools in preparation for the eclipse. Project SOA has provided elementary, middle and secondary level teachers and students with solar eclipse glasses and instructional resources.
